The Plan On The Net .com User Guide

Tips For Better Web Performance
Our site has been specifically designed to run well in a web environment. Our backend servers typically complete user transactions in about 100 milliseconds!
Designed For The Web
Because many of our pages display complex information, we have designed our pages to be as small as possible for maximum transmission performance.

While most of ours user have high speed connections to the Internet, we ensure that our site can be well accessed via dial-up Internet access.

We have also designed our pages with extra features to help you get faster page response.

The rest of this section describes how you can use these features to make best use of the site.

Don't Show All Project Details If You Don't Need Them!
For example, if you are adding new resources, you can hide the "Tasks" section.

In particular, use the "Easy Open All" toggle sparingly. Use it when you genuinely need to review the whole project plan; turn off when no longer needed.

Use the "Easy Open All" toggle sparingly:

Use The Pushpin!
When working on the project worksheet (either modifying or doing analysis), you can use a pushpin to "pin" down the section of the plan that you are currently working on.

By using the pushpin, a small portion of the plan will be transmitted to your browser resulting in a dramatic improvement in page refresh.

The pushpin can be activated by selecting the "pin hole" icon at the very left hand side of a row:

Hide Unused Columns!
When working on a project worksheet (either modifying or doing analysis), use the toggles to hide columns that you don't need. For example, if you are adding a set of new tasks in rapid succession, you can probably turn off many of the columns such as "Actual Days", "% Done", etc.

Use the column toggles to hide unused columns:

Hide Details When Reviewing Project Issue Tracking!
When working with the issues tracking section, try to reduce the level of detail that is being displayed. In particular if you turn on all toggles, for full details, all issues will be displayed all of the time, resulting in large page transfers to your browser.

The issues tracking let you decide how much detail you want to see. For example, if you are only working on "Open Issues", make that it the first sort field and don't open the other categories of issues.

To speed up page refresh when using issue tracking, use the "Easy Open" toggles sparingly:

Use The Date Filter For Issues!
The date filter can be used to focus on a date range for issues to display. If you are only working on issues in 2003, then use the filter to exclude all issues dated from 2002!

The date filter reduces the number of filters that you see:
